IT Breakfix and Deployment Engineer (SC Clearance Required)

We're looking for reliable, hands-on IT Engineers to support technical work on customer sites in and around Barrow-in-Furness. This role is ideal for practical, technically minded individuals who enjoy working independently, solving problems on the ground, and delivering high-quality on-site support.

While prior field engineering experience is beneficial, we're primarily interested in people with the right core skillset: practical ability, confidence with hardware, strong communication, and a professional approach. Optional training is available for candidates who need to strengthen their technical fundamentals.

About the Role:

You will be carrying out a wide range of hardware-focused tasks on customer sites. Typical responsibilities include:

• On-site hardware support - installing, repairing, and troubleshooting IT devices and peripherals
• Device configuration - desktops, laptops, printers, routers, and related equipment
• Component replacement - memory, drives, screens, power supplies, and other hardware parts
• Routine maintenance - performing health checks and ensuring equipment is operational
• Following technical documentation to complete tasks accurately
• Clear communication with support desks and customers
• Independent field work - managing your own time, travel, and job completion
• Basic reporting after each assignment
• Upholding high standards of professionalism

Location and Travel

• Primary work location: Barrow-in-Furness
• Hotels provided for engineers travelling from further afield
• Full UK driving licence required

About you

We're looking for individuals who are:

• Technically minded and comfortable with hands-on hardware tasks
• Practical, reliable, and able to work independently
• From an ex-military background (highly desirable)
• Professional in communication and customer interaction

DIY, mechanical, or electrical experience is a strong advantage.

Training (Optional)

After an initial online assessment, candidates who need to strengthen their technical fundamentals may be offered the option to complete our in-house practical training programme.

• Training is not mandatory for applicants who already meet the technical baseline
• Delivered with a third-party provider
• Fees may apply (including DBS check, total not exceeding £95)

This role requires current SC Clearance. Candidates without valid SC clearance cannot be considered.
