Job Description

Business Unit: Cubic Defense - you will work in the Cubic Weapon Effects Simulation System within the Cubic Defense business, supporting technology solutions for airborne, maritime, and land defense missions.

As a technical support specialist you will perform troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and deploy equipment in both the field and the workshop. The role also includes warehouse duties, training support, and logistic coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Perform in depth troubleshooting, first line repair or replacement of all Cubic supported equipment in the field.
  • Triage damaged equipment and conduct expert repair and preventive maintenance in a workshop environment.
  • Act as subject matter expert and lead a team when required.
  • Develop and deliver solutions to complex repairs.
  • Assist in the build, support and maintenance of Cubic Live Fire Ranges.
  • Perform warehouse duties: issuing, receiving and operational instruction on Cubic supported equipment; maintain a warehouse logistical (LMIS) database.
  • Support the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure, RF, microwave and network cabling in remote environments.
  • Maintain repair records and meet KPI criteria using the LMIS database.
  • Conduct routine, preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned electronic / mechanical equipment, read schematic diagrams and execute test instructions.
  • Operate routine electronic test equipment to perform functional, operational and environmental tests.
  • Analyze test data to determine compliance with specifications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment.
  • Load and install software upgrades on supported hardware.
  • Disassemble and assemble supported hardware, replace components and wire circuits using digital multimeters, signal generators and bespoke test fixtures.
  • Solder, crimp and terminate cables and components to industry standard.
  • Provide customer service during issue and receipt of Cubic equipment.
  • Deploy to the field to troubleshoot Cubic equipment and support customers.
  • Instruct on TES Assistant Instructors Cadre and other TES related instructional periods.
  • Support deployment of Cubic equipment: Targetry, IED simulation and building trackers/cameras.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager, attend and complete in house and external training, work weekend and outside normal hours as required, and potentially deploy overseas.
Qualifications - Essential
  • Solder to IPC/WHMA A 620 standard.
  • Crimp and terminate cables and components to industry standard.
  • ESD trained and maintain standard.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and testing software (e.g., Hyper Terminal).
  • Operate complex electronic test equipment, communication radio systems and basic radio voice procedure.
  • Experience setting up and using satellite communication systems (OTJ trained).
  • Read and interpret complex drawings: schematics, parts list, assembly drawings and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
Qualifications - Desirable
  • Previous experience in a repair workshop environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting/fault diagnosis.
  • Military service or experience working with armed forces.
  • Electronic fault diagnosis to component level.
  • Basic software development skills.
  • NVQ in electronics or equivalent.
  • Basic RF knowledge, microwave/network cabling.
  • Tower access and rigging qualification.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Instructional qualification.
  • HGV C+E licence.
  • Security clearance (SC) (MoD).
Education & Qualifications
  • Completed UK comprehensive education or higher or equivalent.
  • NVQ in electronics or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to obtain basic security clearance.
  • Must hold or acquire a travel passport.
