Senior Digital Forensic Specialist - Infrastructure

Part/Full Time: Full Time, 36 hours per week, Permanent contract.

Location: Lambeth, Building LAMBETH HQ.

Salary: The starting salary is £63,409, including allowances totalling £3,009 (£60,400 basic salary, £2,009 location allowance, £1,000 non pensionable allowance). The basic salary will increase annually until £65,886.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the infrastructure that supports digital forensic workflows, including case management platforms, forensic processing environments, forensic support infrastructure and high capacity secure storage.
  • Oversee the day to day operation of servers, storage systems, specialist forensic hardware and secure networks involved in evidence processing, in partnership with DDaT and suppliers.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability and resilience of mission critical systems with robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive case data.
  • Update and configure OPNsense firewall and network security settings.
  • Act as the SME for data governance within Digital Forensics, ensuring appropriate management, movement, access, retention and disposal of digital forensic data across all platforms.
  • Identify opportunities, technical capability gaps and provide problem solving capability and solution delivery.
  • Deliver Digital Forensic technology plans in line with the organisation's strategic direction.
  • Manage finances, including preparing budgets and forecasts, exercising financial control of allocated funds and producing financial reports.
  • Document and respond to critical systems business continuity plans.
  • Be prepared to be on call and work outside normal office hours as required.
  • Provide line management responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Significant relevant experience within digital forensics, computer science or information security, or a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a technology focused discipline.
  • Strong background in digital forensics environments, with hands on experience managing specialist forensic infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to convey complex technical issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Very strong team leadership and management skills.
  • Understanding of digital forensics software and review tools.
  • Ability to manage resources in an area of high and increasing demand, while working within organisational and departmental budgets.
  • Strong relationship skills and an agile approach to meeting operational demands.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply core principles to emerging challenges.
  • Ability to manage demanding workloads.
  • Knowledge of legislation, quality standards in digital forensics and relevant legal issues (CPIA, PACE, ICO, Human Rights Act).
  • Working knowledge of relevant quality management systems (ISO 17025 or ISO 9001).
