Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a flexible, detail oriented Specialist Network Engineer to assist our engineering team with on site installations and technical support tickets. This is a project based, ad hoc role, making it ideal for a professional looking for flexible work rather than a standard 9 to 5 commitment.

Primary Duties

  • Hardware Deployment: Physically installing and mounting network hardware, including routers, racks, and cabling.
  • Device Configuration: Configuring switches and other network peripherals to meet specific client specifications and security protocols.
  • Technical Support: Collaborating with our remote engineers to troubleshoot and resolve hardware related tickets on site.
  • Client Relations: Serving as a professional point of contact for customers, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout the installation process.
Key Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Portfolio: Must provide evidence or examples of previous networking work (e.g., photos of installs, project summaries, or certifications).
  • Communication: Highly proficient in spoken English with a focus on "soft skills" and a kind, customer first attitude.
  • Education: Ideally GCSE English & Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent; however, we welcome applicants with relevant vocational experience or lower grades who can demonstrate technical competency.
  • Vetting: Must have a completely clean criminal record. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check due to the nature of our client environments.

Work Preferences

  • Availability: Must be comfortable with an on call or ticket based schedule rather than fixed hours.
  • Adaptability: Ability to follow complex technical instructions from senior engineers while working independently on site.
Position Summary
  • Location: Initially office based (Boston Enterprise Centre). Home working is available after a successful 6 week trial.
  • Hours: Voluntary - flexible hours by arrangement (16.0 hrs/wk)
