DescriptionHelp build the world's first automated "airlock" for health research environments.
At UK Biobank, we're developing new technologies that will help researchers securely work with some of the world's richest biomedical datasets.
This role sits within a team building what is believed to be the world's first automated output checking system for trusted research environments using AI and cloud-native technologies to help ensure researchers can only export files regarded as safe.
It's a genuinely greenfield engineering challenge, combining AI-driven approaches, secure cloud-native architecture, and modern full-stack development to support global health research.
Can you do it?You'll play a leading role in the development, integration, and delivery of UK Biobank's Automated Output Checking System, helping shape a platform that supports secure research at a global scale.
Working closely with architects, researchers, vendors, and internal engineering teams, you'll help design and build scalable integrations across research platforms and cloud-native services.
This role combines hands on engineering, technical leadership, and modern platform design, requiring someone who can work confidently across backend services, frontend applications, infrastructure, APIs, and cloud environments.
The solution applies AI techniques, follows cloud-native principles, and is being built from the ground up giving you the opportunity to influence both architecture and technical direction.
