Role overview

The Senior Delivery Manager will be accountable for the effective delivery of complex or high risk products and services at AWTG. The role provides delivery leadership, manages senior stakeholder communication, resolves delivery risks and supports delivery managers and teams to deliver valuable outcomes. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across software engineering, cloud, data, AI, product, QA and client delivery to create practical outcomes for clients and end users.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of complex digital, data or technology products and services through the full product or service life cycle.
  • Establish effective delivery cadence, planning, reporting and governance practices that help teams deliver at a sustainable pace.
  • Manage delivery risks, issues and dependencies, including those owned outside the immediate delivery team.
  • Engage senior stakeholders and communicate delivery confidence, blockers, options and recommendations in a clear and timely way.
  • Coach and mentor delivery managers and delivery teams, improving team dynamics and delivery effectiveness.
  • Work with supplier, commercial and finance stakeholders to manage contracted relationships, budgets and value for money.
  • Contribute to business cases, delivery plans and continuous improvement activities where required.
Essential skills and experience
  • Proven experience delivering complex or high risk technology products and services in Agile or Lean environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and Lean practices, delivery process improvement and life cycle management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate between technical and non technical audiences.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, budgets, commercial considerations and business value.
  • Ability to identify, prioritise and resolve complex delivery risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Experience coaching delivery teams or delivery managers and improving team ways of working.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience operating at programme level or managing dependencies across multiple teams.
  • Experience delivering work in public sector, regulated, client facing or high assurance environments.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across software engineering, cloud, AI, data, product and QA.

  • Delivery teams maintain momentum, focus and confidence while working through complex delivery challenges.
  • Senior stakeholders understand delivery status, key risks and decisions required to protect outcomes.
