Azure Cloud Engineer (Contract)

Contract Length: 6 months
Day Rate: 600/day (Inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid (3 days on site - London)

We're looking for a strong Azure Cloud Engineer to support a busy platform and cloud engineering function while a longer-term permanent hire process is underway. This is a hands on engineering role suited to someone who can deliver at pace, work across cloud infrastructure and security, and contribute to technical direction without needing to operate as a full time architect.

The environment is highly regulated, so experience within insurance, financial services, legal, or professional services environments is strongly preferred.

The Role

You'll join a Platform team responsible for delivering secure, scalable Azure cloud solutions across a modern enterprise estate. The role will focus primarily on engineering and delivery, with some involvement in solution design and technical decision making where required.

Working closely with platform engineers, security, and architecture teams, you'll help build, improve, and support Azure infrastructure and cloud native services using Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps tooling.

This role would suit a competent senior level cloud engineer who is comfortable "churning through" delivery work while also contributing to technical improvements and best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer and support Azure cloud infrastructure and services across PaaS, IaaS, and container based environments
  • Deliver Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Support cloud networking, connectivity, and security implementations within Azure
  • Work with Azure DevOps pipelines and repositories to support CI/CD delivery
  • Collaborate with platform, security, and architecture teams to implement secure and scalable solutions
  • Contribute to high level and low level technical designs where needed
  • Support containerisation and cloud native deployments
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve platform and infrastructure issues
  • Ensure solutions align with security standards and operational best practice
  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver pragmatic and scalable solutions in a regulated environment
Required Experience
  • Strong hands on Azure cloud engineering experience
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments such as insurance, finance, legal, or professional services
  • Strong Terraform experience
  • Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/AKS)
  • Good understanding of Azure networking and cloud security principles
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelinesStrong understanding of Azure infrastructure including PaaS and IaaS services
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced delivery environment
  • Comfortable collaborating with architects and senior stakeholders
Nice to Have
  • Experience contributing to architecture or solution design
  • Azure certifications (AZ-305 / AZ-400 etc.)
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell/Bash)
  • Experience supporting cloud transformation or migration programmes
