About the Opportunity Trek Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Wrexham to recruit an experienced IT Support Engineer.

THE ROLE
This is a varied, hands-on role offering the chance to support a wide range of IT systems and infrastructure while delivering excellent first- and second-line support to users across multiple sites. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations that directly support the business s manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver first- and second-line IT support (on-site and remote) for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Manage and maintain Windows & Ubuntu servers, Active Directory, VMware/vSphere, and Veeam backup solutions
  • Support Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and end-user applications
  • Manage and configure network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, printers, and endpoints
  • Work with technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, Synology DSM, Fortinet FortiOS, Certero, and Axonius
  • Collaborate effectively with head office and branch teams via Microsoft Teams
  • Document processes in Confluence, create database queries, and maintain system records
  • Ensure hardware/software availability and promote good security practices
YOU
  • Strong experience in Windows Server environments (IIS, Print/File Services, Terminal Services)
  • Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, networking (firewalls, switches), and core IT security principles
  • Proven ability to deliver effective support both remotely and in-person
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
  • HNC/HND or Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field, combined with relevant practical experience
SKILLS
  • Familiarity with Cisco Meraki, CCNA, network CLIs, or advanced networking
  • Exposure to Azure Data Studio, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, Metabase, GitHub, or VS Code
  • Knowledge of virtual desktop infrastructure, ZPL/label printing, SSH/CLI, or BI reporting
  • Experience with the FIA framework or formal IT documentation control
