Solution Architect - Disaster Recovery & Resilience
3 Month contract initially
Based: Remotely
Rate - £400 - £450 p/d via Umbrella

A progressive organisation where you can really make a difference. We have a great opportunity for a Solution Architect - Disaster Recovery & Resilience on a long term program of work.

The Solution Architect provides technically credible challenge, recovery design insight, and architectural assurance to determine whether existing and proposed recovery solutions are appropriate, feasible, proportionate, and aligned to business requirements.
The role focuses on shaping improved recovery and resilience options where gaps, weaknesses, or inefficiencies are identified.

Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct detailed analysis of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) outputs to understand application criticality, recovery objectives, and service interdependencies.
* Assess existing and proposed disaster recovery and cloud recovery designs, validating their suitability against business needs and recovery objectives.
* Provide architectural challenge to ensure recovery approaches are technically sound, operationally realistic, and cost effective.
* Analyse application recovery scenarios, including severe loss scenarios (eg total environment wipe), and define what "good recovery" looks like.
* Work with business, technology, and operational stakeholders to:
* Understand application behaviour under failure,
* Validate recovery assumptions,
* Ensure recovery designs are aligned to organisational priorities.
* Support the development of a Minimum Viable Implementation (MVI) recovery capability for Organisation.
* Input into trade off decisions between cost, complexity, risk, and recoverability.

Key Skills & Experience:
Recovery Design Options
* Proposed improvements to existing recovery solutions,
* New recovery patterns where gaps exist.

Technical Feasibility Assessments
* Clear statements on whether recovery designs can meet stated RTO/RPOs,
* Identification of constraints, risks, and assumptions.

High Level Architecture Views
* Logical and conceptual diagrams showing recovery strategies,
* Dependency and sequencing considerations.

Cost & Complexity Trade Off Analysis
* Input supporting decisions on proportionate recovery investment.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Strong background in solution architecture across cloud and hybrid environments.
* Demonstrable experience designing disaster recovery and resilience solutions.
* Proven ability to interpret BIA outputs and translate them into technical designs.
* Experience working across multiple stakeholders, including application support, infrastructure, and business leads.
