Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we're moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you'll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week - Bradford/Leeds)

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

The purpose of the Senior Cloud Engineer is to design, develop and maintain effective & efficient cloud infrastructure services used for the delivery of IT solutions across all areas of the Kelda Group. Defining best practice use of cloud infrastructure services, managing detailed infrastructure risks and implementing associated mitigating controls, identifying opportunities to innovate through the existing infrastructure, and contributing to the overall infrastructure strategy enhancing or protecting value and meeting Regulatory and operational requirements. They will provide 24/7 cover as part of a standby rota.

Where you fit in:
  • Provision and manage PaaS, Saas and IaaS resources using tools like Azure Resource Manager templates, Bicep and/or Terraform.
  • Develop, implement and maintain cloud security guidelines, standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, and IT Teams on evaluation and implementation of new services based on the requirements.
  • Monitor environments for security vulnerabilities and independently take action to remediate and/or mitigate risks.
  • Able to work in both Linux and Windows based environments and associated code frameworks.
  • Perform a senior cloud engineering role on technology projects.
  • Creating high quality detailed technical designs to support overall technical solution in line with strategies and roadmaps, ensuring non-functional requirements are catered for.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide coverage during off business hours.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • Experience of managing Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and operating build & release automation and continuous integration and deployment, especially to Azure or to VMware VCF.
  • Scripting and Programming languages in (Python, Bash, Powershell, KQL etc.,)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
  • Experience of DevOps Practices, and working with Agile methodologies including SAFe.
  • Unix & Windows system administration skills preferably in a container focused environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of integration with various infrastructures within an enterprise organisation.
It would also be good if you have any of the following:
  • Microsoft Certified Security Engineer
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Octopus, Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge/Experience of VMWARE
  • Knowledge / Experience of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Knowledge/Experience of Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, SCCM
  • Scripting Technologies (PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Networks and TCPIP
