Job Description

Lúnasa is a UK-based NewSpace company (acquired by Infinite Orbits) building advanced and autonomous systems and satellites for in-orbit satellite services. Our mission is to provide geostationary operators with all the in-orbit services they need, from the inspection of their assets to the extension of their lifespan and the management of the end-of-life phase.

The company has received multiple contracts from the UK Space Agency and ESA to build and deploy AI-based satellite rendezvous proximity operations (RPO) technology and is set to demonstrate the innovation in space by 2027.

Job Summary

Lúnasa is looking for a Graduate Robotics Engineer to join our team and help develop precise and adaptive robotic systems. We own an in house robotic dark room test facility with state-of-the-art technologies, which is used to test in-orbit satellite servicing mission scenarios. If you have hands on experience with robotic arms, we want to hear from you!

Key Skills and Experience
  • Develop, test, and deploy motion planning and control algorithms using ROS and MoveIt
  • Integrate and operate collaborative robotic arms (UR16e, UR30, etc.) for space-related applications
  • Perform reference frame transformations, calibration, and kinematic modeling
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to ensure smooth integration and real-time performance
  • Debug robotic issues, from joint-space motion to Cartesian trajectory planning
  • Strong hands-on experience with Universal Robots or similar industrial/collaborative arms
  • Proficiency with ROS and MoveIt
  • Solid grasp of linear algebra, quaternions, and transforms
  • Strong coding skills in Python
  • Experience with Gazebo, RViz, or other simulation tools
