Senior C++ Developer

Senior C++ Developer | SC Cleared | £500/day | 1 day per week | 12-month contract | Remote | SCC Flex Contract

We are seeking an SC-Cleared Senior C++ Developer to provide specialist development and support for a bespoke aviation modelling module built in Microsoft .NET C++. This long-term engagement offers the opportunity to work directly with expert users, maintaining and enhancing a unique modelling tool used in high-impact environments.

As a Senior C++ Developer, you will deliver updates, fix issues, peer-review code, and maintain documentation while operating independently with your own development toolset.

Your responsibilities as the Senior C++ Developer:

• Deliver C++ software updates to the aviation model based on expert user specifications
• Identify, diagnose and rectify errors within the Legacy C++ codebase
• Investigate and implement fixes for software glitches reported by expert users
• Maintain clear and comprehensive software developer documentation
• Assist with peer review of C++ code, including documentation creation, knowledge sharing and implementing recommendations
• Operate and maintain your own development suite of tools, including GitHub, .NET and Visual Studio

As a successful Senior C++ Developer, you will have:

• Experience working with Legacy C++ software circa 2000, including outdated compiler libraries and non-standard code
• Extensive professional C++ development experience for bespoke applications, such as iterative processes involving billions of calculations
• Significant experience with Microsoft .NET C++ and Visual Studio
• Strong background in advising and providing recommendations on C++ software systems
• Preferably experience using C++ with Excel for input/output
• Preferably understanding of transport modelling principles (demand, growth, networks, iterative model design)
• Ideally, knowledge of the aviation sector (airport size, aircraft types, airlines)
• Current SC Clearance
