Principal Developer - React, NestJS, Azure, Java
Hybrid, London | 6-Month FTC | £85k-£95k DOE
Robert Half are working with a leading client who are an innovative leader in tech-driven solutions, and are seeking a Principal Developer for a 6-month fixed-term contract to join their IP Development team in London (hybrid). This is a unique opportunity to provide senior technical leadership, drive architectural strategy, and ensure technical excellence across high-impact projects during the sabbatical of the permanent postholder.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set architectural direction for modern web applications using React, NestJS, Azure, and Java.
- Define and uphold engineering standards for performance, scalability, availability, and resilience.
- Guide cross-functional teams in technical strategy, integration, and security.
- Drive innovation through AI, DevTools, and emerging technologies-validating and integrating proof of concepts.
- Oversee shared platform components, ensuring quality, reliability, and reusability.
- Mentor senior engineers and lead root-cause analysis of critical issues.
About you:
- Significant experience in technical leadership roles with a focus on architecture and platform governance.
- Proficiency in TypeScript stacks (React, NestJS), cloud platforms (Azure), and familiarity with Java.
- Proven track record of delivering scalable, maintainable solutions in complex environments.
- Skilled in cross-team collaboration, technical reviews, and stakeholder management.
- Strong analytical and mentoring abilities.
