Senior Software Engineer - HubSpot Contract

We're partnering with a fast-growing sports/entertainment business to hire a Senior Backend Engineer with hands-on experience in HubSpot and complex backend systems. This is a 6-month contract, outside IR35, with potential for extension or permanent conversion.

You'll take full ownership of the Commercial Data Manager (CDM) platform and the HubSpot ecosystem, bringing previously external-managed systems fully in-house. This role combines backend development, integrations, and stakeholder collaboration, giving you real technical leadership and system ownership from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the CDM platform (70%) and HubSpot system (30%)

• Take over HubSpot maintenance, expansion, and integrations

• Collaborate closely with commercial stakeholders to implement new fields/features

• Mentor engineers and shape team practices

• Drive architecture and integration decisions across multiple services

Team Environment:

• Distributed across UK & Poland

• Key stakeholders: Architect, Engineering leadership, Delivery, Commercial team

• Hybrid environment with flexible UK/EU remote options; Holborn office optional

Must-have:

• Node.js / TypeScript / JavaScript in production

• Experience with large, complex backend systems

• Cloud experience (preferably AWS; GCP/Azure also fine)

• System design & architecture experience

• Integration-heavy environments

• Previous HubSpot experience essential

Priority Skills:

• Mentorship, leadership, and architecture thinking

• Collaboration with product and engineering stakeholders

• Scaling complex backend systems

Nice-to-have:

• DevOps/SRE awareness

• High-scale platforms (gaming, sports, fintech, marketplaces)

• Experience with complex workflows or multi-service integrations

Experience Level:

• 6-8+ years, hands-on senior engineer

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Leadership mindset, proactive and solution-focused

• Can explain technical decisions clearly

• Commercial awareness and creative problem solving

• Purely task-focused, non-proactive contractors
