Job title: Technical Architect (SC/DV Cleared)

Location: Hybrid - 1 day a week onside in Croydon, London

Rate: Negotiable depending on experience

Duration: 12-month contract

Security Clearance:

  • Active SC or DV clearance required (UK nationals only).
  • Candidates must be eligible to work within secure government/defence environments.

Role Overview:

We are seeking two experienced Technical Architects operating at SFIA Level 5 to design, guide, and assure end-to-end technical solutions across applications, platforms, and infrastructure.

The role requires a broad architectural skill set, strong technical depth, and the ability to operate confidently within regulated and security-sensitive programmes, working closely with delivery, security, and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and own end-to-end technical solutions spanning applications, platforms, and infrastructure
  • Translate business and user requirements into coherent, secure technical architectures
  • Define and apply architecture patterns, integration approaches, and data flows
  • Design solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, including Scalability, Performance, Security and Resilience
  • Architect high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Work closely with application, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams
  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the delivery life cycle
  • Produce and maintain architecture documentation (HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, standards)
  • Contribute to architectural governance and technical assurance activities

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience designing end-to-end technical solutions across multiple technology domains

Solid understanding of:

  • Application architecture patterns
  • Integration approaches
  • Data flows and system interactions
  • Experience designing solutions in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
  • Good working knowledge of:Networking, Compute, Storage, Platform servicesas they relate to solution design
  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud architectures
  • Strong understanding of non-functional requirements and how to design for them
  • Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience design
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern delivery approaches
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions or modernising Legacy systems
  • Background working within government, defence, or highly regulated enterprise environments
  • Experience supporting or leading DevOps or SRE-aligned teams

Architecture or cloud certifications such as:

  • TOGAF
  • AWS Solutions Architect
  • Azure Solutions Architect
  • GCP Professional Architect

Additional Information:

  • Roles require working within secure environments (on-site or hybrid depending on programme)
  • Candidates must be comfortable working with classified systems, governance controls, and security standards
  • Clearance transferability will be considered where applicable
