Role: Lead Infrastructure Engineer/Architect (DV)
Location: South West.
Clearance: DV

An opportunity to join a secure delivery team as a hands-on Lead Infrastructure Engineer with strong architectural skills, owning the design and delivery of secure, mission-critical platforms for a major programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as senior technical lead, owning end-to-end design and delivery of infrastructure and platform solutions.
  • Produce and maintain HLDs and LLDs, translating requirements into clear build, configuration and runbooks for engineering teams.
  • Lead and assure technical designs, builds and change requests, ensuring they meet agreed architecture, security and service standards.
  • Provide hands-on leadership across build, configuration, integration, automation and troubleshooting activities.
  • Work closely with Delivery Managers, Architects, Service & Security Leads and engineers to deliver secure, resilient and supportable platforms into live.
  • Mentor engineers, lead technical workstreams and act as a trusted advisor to customer stakeholders, explaining options, risks and trade-offs clearly.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise, automate and reduce technical debt across the stack.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Lead/Principal Engineer delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure or platform solutions.
  • Strong track record owning solutions across the full life cycle (design, build, test, deploy, operate).
  • Deep understanding of core IT domains, withhands-on strength in several of:
    • Cloud & infrastructure platforms
    • Networks & connectivity
    • Applications & integration
    • Data (incl. AI/ML)
    • ITSM/ITIL & service operations
    • Cyber security
    • Automation & tooling
  • Ability to design and deliver secure, mission-critical systems within time and cost constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills; confident engaging senior stakeholders and leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience reviewing and assuring technical solutions and designs for major programmes or bids.
