Server Engineer

Position: Server Engineer - Contract Role
Location: Staffordshire - Onsite (Full-Time)
Day Rate: £200 Per Day - Inside IR35
Contract Length: Initial 3-month contract (possible extension)

Company Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Server Engineer to join our client on a full-time, onsite contract basis in Staffordshire. This role focuses on server upgrades, disaster recovery (DR) documentation, and ensuring strong security practices across IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in server administration, backup strategies, and security, with a focus on delivering high-quality technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• Server Upgrades & Patching: Manage and execute server upgrades, migrations, and system patching to ensure seamless operations.
• Disaster Recovery (DR) Documentation: Assist in the creation and maintenance of DR plans, documentation, and business continuity strategies.
• Security Best Practices: Support and implement security practices, including OS hardening, certificate management, and management of access control lists (ACLs).
• Server Infrastructure Management: Provide hands-on administration and support for Windows Server and related technologies.
• Backup & Data Protection: Contribute to backup strategies and data protection processes, ensuring optimal protection of critical systems.
• Technical Support: Provide third-line support for server-related issues, contributing to troubleshooting and resolution of complex incidents.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for server environments and infrastructure management.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong experience in server upgrades, patching, and migration processes.
• Proven ability to manage and document disaster recovery (DR) strategies and systems.
• Solid knowledge of security best practices such as OS hardening, certificate management, and managing ACLs.
• Experience with Windows Server administration and supporting server environments.
• Ability to contribute to backup and data protection strategies.
