We are looking for aSenior SoftwareEngineerwith a track record of developing production-grade data-driven software solutions and in-depthknowledgeof modern software engineering best practices. This role will be critical in allowing us to scale our modeling efforts and build out an ecosystem of services that will support advanced modeling efforts within the AI/MLteam and across GSK. The candidate should be comfortable being fully accountable for the software engineering component of complex technical products. A background in molecular biology is not a requirement, but the ability to engage effectively with AI/MLand biology subject matter experts will be an important part of the role.

As aSenior SoftwareEngineer you will:
  • Lead the hands-on development of data-driven software solutions, taking responsibility for requirements engineering, softwarearchitecturedesign, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with AI/MLexperts to develop modular, reusable, and scalabledeeplearning pipelines.
  • Liaise with end-users to ensure fit-for-purpose programming interfaces.
  • Mentor/coach AI/MLEngineers in software engineering best practices.
  • Deliver robust, tested, and performantcodein anagiledevelopment environment.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • A degree in a quantitative or engineering discipline (e.g.ComputerScience, Engineering, among others); OR equivalent work experience as a professional software engineer.
  • several years experience of professional software development practices:codestandards,codereview, source control,CI/CD, testing, documentation,Agile, with the ability to mentor others in these practices
  • Proven experience withPythonprogramming and a track record of delivering robust software solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Familiarity withmachinelearningprinciples and state-of-the-art modeling approaches, including majordeeplearningframeworks (PyTorch,TensorFlow)
  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Background in genetics or molecularbiology, or experience working with biological data(e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics)
