Ordnance Survey are currently looking for a Test Engineer to join our team. At OS, we believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £36,414 - £42,840 per annum.

About the role:

We have a great opportunity for a highly passionate technical and analytical Test Engineer to join Ordnance Survey's Engineering team in developing next-generation systems, that drive our world-leading geospatial and business applications.

Having a thirst for knowledge and the ability to think creatively are highly valued in OS Engineering's culture and ethos. Working within an Agile team, you will be responsible for designing, and driving out automated tests and executing manual test suites to ensure adequate and effective test coverage and provide test assurance of the user stories according to the defined acceptance test criteria. This will be done in a test-first environment using cloud architecture, and experience of working in this type of environment is essential.

What you'll be doing as our Test Engineer:

  • Working closely with Software Engineers, in delivering the test activities to meet the functional and non-functional requirements and ambitions of our stakeholders, whilst contributing to effective agile delivery
  • Regularly participating in estimation activities and are encouraged to identify opportunities to maximise test benefit within the team
  • Reporting to and providing regular updates to the domain Test Lead
  • Providing assurance at team retrospectives and planning sessions to ensure test best practice, continual improvements and appropriate standards are adhered to

What we're looking for in our Test Engineer:

  • Qualified to Foundation Level in Software Testing (or equivalent)
  • Demonstratable proficiency in C#, Scala or Python
  • Experience in designing and implementing tests around functional and non-functional test activities using TDD/BDD
  • Experience in delivering automated test frameworks in a test-first CI/CD environment
  • Experience in working with Azure DevOps
  • Experience in testing on a cloud platform
  • The ability to design the appropriate end to end test approach for automation and performance
  • The ability to allocate and prioritise own work
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and working closely with engineers, advising on process improvement
