1. Job Summary - highlight project details/what is exciting about the role:

As a member of the Business Intelligence team, Data modeller will be responsible for translating requirements into a complete enterprise information platform. The primary function of the Data Modeller will be to provide architectural guidance, end model to support the business requirements and other analytical requirements efficiently on enterprise level. The desired candidate will be responsible for discussing the requirements with business users, data discovery, designing the data model for enterprise warehouse as well as data marts to meet the reporting needs on the enterprise data platform implemented using big data and cloud technologies.

The candidate will work closely with the other members of the BI team to analyze data requirements, design logical and physical models, evolve models to meet new and changing business requirements and develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data solution components. The candidate is also expected to provide guidance to customer on implementing data management and data governance best practices on the data platform

2. Key Responsibilities - list what the person will be doing on a day to day basis:

• Understand and translate business requirements into data models supporting long-term analytical solution.
• Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.
• Create logical and physical data models for enterprise data warehouse (EDW) layer using Data Vault 2.0 methodology by implementing best practices for the big data or cloud data platform with the objective of supporting high data quality, high performance warehouse layer
• Create logical and physical data models for presentation layer using dimension modelling by implementing best practices with the objective of supporting self service analytical capability
• Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.
• Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
• Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
• Validate business data model for accuracy and completeness.
• Analyse data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
• Provide direction, guidance, and oversight for data quality controls.
• Develop and present training materials such as data flow diagrams, conceptual diagrams, UML diagrams, ER flow diagrams as needed in order to clarify data model meaning and usage effectively to a wide range of technical and non-technical consumers.
• Participate in the implementation of strategic Enterprise Data Strategies

Essential Skills:

• Should be UK SC clear
• Extensive experience in working as a data modeller using Data vault 2.0 modelling technique and implementing high quality Data Vault warehouse layer
• Experience on implementing the data model on the big data platform (file based) or cloud databases
• Experience in implementation of data model to support batch as well as Real Time data requirements
• Very strong Dimensional modelling skills to support various BI as well as self-service analytical tools like Tableau, Altryx etc
• Experience in Data Management best practices, Data Integration, Data Rationalization and Data Patterns.
• Strong Data Analysis experience
• Experience with new age cloud databases like Redshift, Snowflake etc or Hadoop database like Impala
• Experience with optimising and recommending database design to support high performance data integration
• Very strong skills to propose best practices to support integration of heterogeneous source systems in the data vault warehouse layer
• Strong SQL skills
• Should be experience on using Datamodelling tools like Erwin
• Should have experience in maintaining and updating data dictonary, data catalogue and business glossary
• Experience in handling and managing source data quality issue in the data model
• Review and approve database change requests to safeguard the databases and data integrity
• Strong experience on translating business and data requirements into technical terms, propose and recommend technical solutions
• Assists developers with performance issues
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity.
• Should be able to lead reviews of logical and physical data models with enterprise architect decision teams
• Proven experience in participation in data sourcing analysis, data mapping, documenting requirements, setting up recurring data loads and testing skills
