In a nutshell
The role of the Senior Technical Analyst is to manage the scope, requirements analysis and technical context of a solution design for a project or programme workstream. The Senior Technical Analyst may task manage one or more Technical Analysts and will lead engagement with key stakeholders, project team members during the process of delivering Technical Change to understand, translate and document technical systems. The role will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle, translating and influencing the solution through expert systems and product technical knowledge.
What you need to do
- Leads engagement with Key Business stakeholders and the project team members to identify and document non-functional requirements while influencing the technical design working closely with architecture.
- Provides Technical guidance across a large range of systems to support Technical analysis and delivery during change assessment and requirement gathering.
- Leads, designs and facilitates workshops to analyse, define and prioritise gaps in understanding, challenging thinking and agreeing outcomes to ensure robust requirements development and approved.
- Translates complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
- Develops expert knowledge of the systems across a number of business/product areas, understanding interdependency in order to provide informed consultancy advice, independent review and quality assurance.
- Leads the definition and management of the documentation of systems requirements (including requirements catalogues and traceability matrices) and obtains stakeholder sign off.
- Supports triage during build and test phase working closely with the test and development teams to ensure the technical deliverables are in line with stated requirements.
- Engages in a variety of stakeholders across priority business/product areas, owning and gathering specification input, delivering high quality work and maintaining relationships post project close.
- Builds and maintains effective working and influencing relationship with appropriate colleagues to share knowledge and best practice. Takes responsibility for self-development, actively seeking and providing feedback and responding accordingly.
- Involved in the resolution of technical analysis issues, identifying and driving mitigating actions against design risks.
- Ensures that technical artefacts are documented and stored during and post change implementation and is accurate, complete and available.
What you need to know and show
- Expert at being able to decipher business requirements into detailed, unambiguous and accurate technical specifications, where and as required. ( both in the form of traditional technical requirements and user stories
- Technically proficient to a standard that allows the production of interface specs, data field mappings, api low level design and pseudo code production to come with ease
- Experience in the financial services industry and or complex enterprise environments
- Technically proficient in programming languages ( ability to read / decipher / structure)
- Proficient in setting up Jira and Confluence Boards to record and track technical requirements
- Relevant systems analysis qualification is desirable
- Exposure to mission critical 24 x 7 enterprise IT services
- Ability to produce functional specification documentations
- Exceptional communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level
- Experience of working in both a waterfall and agile environment (disciplined agile preferably)
- Demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for seeing work through to completion
- Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to solve challenging technical problems using a structured and logical approach.

- Demonstrate the ability to lead other colleagues

- Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
