Head of DNS Services

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

• DNS/DNSSEC is the heart of the technical infrastructure built and maintained by Nominet's Internet Engineering and Operations function and is crucial in enabling the UK domain which forms part of the UK's Critical National Infrastructure.
• As Head of DNS Services, you will l ead the DNS and Networks Engineering team to provide critical IT system support to the technical team, business, and wider internet community.
• You will be an expert in the current and potential future use of DNS/DNSSEC with a clear understanding of how Nominet's business uses DNS/DNSSEC features within its services. You will be able to build new products and revenue streams using current and emerging aspects of the protocols and operating model.
• You will be a key business leader and senior decision maker in the Nominet 's Internet Engineering and Operations organisation, working with both internal and external stakeholders to develop the Nominet business in the UK and internationally.
• As Head of DNS Services, you will also be a partner to the CIO in helping to create strategy and process that will inspire and further the work of Internet Engineering and Operations.

• Highly influential DNS 'Guru' with a minimum of 10+ years of hands on operational experience managing DNS in a complex, global, mission critical production environment
• 5+ years' experience in configuration of nameservers, specifically BIND/NSD
• Knowledge and operational experience of BGP and Anycast.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, Cisco hardware, Juniper Hardware, and JUNIOS software
• Experience of IP Firewalls, IP Load balancers, and IP Multicast
• Strong operational knowledge and experience of working with TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Ethernet switching, BGP, Anycast, SNMP, VPN, Traffic Engineering and IPSEC
• Ability to work on large, high volume critical infrastructures.
• A thorough understanding of internet, networking and infrastructure technologies
• Experience in managing a distributed, redundant WAN
• Experience of managing co-located infrastructure with Disaster Recovery capabilities
• Proven experience with:
  • Managing a high performance team of 10 or more technical experts and professionals
  • Managing a combined budget of £ 50 0K+
  • Working within service level agreements
  • Managing infrastructure projects
