PHP Full Stack Developer

PiXL (Partners in Excellence) is a network of over 3000 schools across primary, secondary, sixth forms and alternative provisions in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. Summary of the role

We are looking to appoint an PHP Full Stack Developer to join our small and very successful IT development team which is part of a larger Operations Team.

The role will include the following duties:

• Working as a full stack developer on making modifications to existing systems and working on new development projects.
• Assisting with system administration & architecture
• Providing 2nd/3rd level support indirectly to our customers.
• Providing IT support directly to internal teams
• Occasional support at events which includes technical and customer facing roles at physical and digital events.

IT Information

All production environments are Linux based and you will require at least a basic understanding of Linux with an interest in developing this knowledge further. You may choose your desktop OS from Linux, MacOS or Windows.

We predominantly use PHP for backend development with some NodeJS and Python, and HTML/SASS/JS for the frontend mainly using MithrilJS framework (if you are used to React this isn’t to dissimilar) with some legacy use of JQuery and KnockOutJS. All code is under version control using Git.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience.

Due to the wide range of frameworks and technologies used in any development environment an ability and desire to learn is just as important to us as any existing knowledge you may have of the technologies we currently use.

Other info:

Location: The office is based in Waterloo Station. Due to the Covid19 situation we are currently working from home. We will be reviewing  future working arrangements and are open to discussions around the best working arrangement for you and the organisation.

Working hours: Flexibility over working hours is required, the core office hours are 8am – 4.30pm however the role does require you to be happy to check and reply to emails out of these hours.

Salary: Range from £40,000- £50,000 depending on experience (Grade D level)
