Data Scientist required by a tech start-up for what will be a challenging but rewarding role, working closely with an incredibly bright and ambitious Head of Data.
You will be working for a company with data analytics at its heart, meaning you won't be a value add, or a nice to have department in a big company - you will drive the success in pretty much everything they do.
The Company:
A successful start-up based in the trendy Shoreditch region, with a modern work space with all the perks you'd expect from a London scale-up.
Following the most successful year in their short history, which included a seven figure Series A and plans in place for a Series B early this year, they are growing at a pace of knots.
They provide real-time analytics solutions for some of the world's best-known brands and have some big plans for how the company will look in the next 6-12 months - which you will be an integral part of.
The Role:
Now for the important stuff. What will you be doing on a day to day basis?
When I said earlier this is a greenfield library / solution - the Head of Analytics literally designed the NLP platform a matter of months ago, from scratch. If that excites you rather than daunts you, keep reading.
You will work closely with the recently appointed head of department, which is a big bonus in this role as he's obsessed with developing his team, speaks internationally at data science conferences and is genuinely a lovely bloke!
The first real area of focus of this role will surround Natural Language Processing (NLP), Text Analytics, Deep Learning and Neural Networks. In time, they will be looking at Image Recognition, Computer Vision and the likes, however, due to the immature nature of the data set, they want to focus on a couple of key areas initially.
The Tech:
From a programming point of view, everything they do is Python based, so you will likely have experience of most of the following: NumPy, Pandas, SpaCY, Scikit-Learn and a few others. When it comes to Neural Networks, they will be mainly using TensorFlow, so any experience here would be a real bonus.
NLP wise, they focus on Natural Language Process with Python (NLTK), so if you have experience here either professionally or in your own time, it will be a bonus. Otherwise, knowledge of the key principles of NLP would be helpful to make sense of everything.
Location & Package:
The role is in the heart of London's start-up scene, Shoreditch. You will be working in a bright, modern office space with likeminded people in an organisation who are really going places.

Salary wise, they are very flexible for the right person. In practice, that means somewhere in the region of £55-60k for a more junior, but switched on Data Scientist (think PhD educated, or a Research position) all the way up to £95-100k for a seasoned Data Scientist ready for their next challenge.
