Our product portfolio includes Freestyle Libre, a recently launched system that is revolutionising how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an opportunity for a Database Administrator to join our UK IT team, based in Witney, Oxfordshire

In this role, you will play a key part in Database administration including installation, configuration, upgrading, capacity planning, and security management. Working with technical and non-technical people, you will design, implement, deliver & support critical databases, support in the design of Oracle database requirements and capacity planning, and develop and adhere to system documentation. Whether you are involved in troubleshooting and problem solving, working on backup and recovery activities, or supporting database optimisation and performance tuning, you will be heavily integrated into cross-functional support provision.

To be successful, you will be an experienced Database Administrator, with previous exposure to large enterprise database environments, and strong Oracle skills (Linux and Windows Oracle RAC, RMAN/Data Guard/datapump, GoldenGate, Active Data Guard, scripting). You will be degree qualified in Computer Science or equivalent, and ideally come from a regulated industry background.

We’re looking for someone who is creative, influential, and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation. The ideal candidate will be a versatile individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but interact on a wider business scale, liaising with stakeholders both in and out of function. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

As you’d expect from an innovative global healthcare company, we offer an excellent starting salary, and a competitive range of benefits including a defined contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme.

As we operate in a highly-regulated industry, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow procedures and create accurate documents and records of your work.

An equal opportunity employer - Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.

We politely request that agencies do not make contact in relation to this opportunity.
