Software Engineer (Government Organisation) An opportunity for Software Engineer to work for a government organisation. Land Registry is a government department responsible for the registration of land and property in England and Wales. They are a successful, high performing, innovative organisation. For more than 150 years Land Registry has protected and guaranteed people`s land and property rights by keeping and maintaining the Land Register. Position: Software Engineer Location: Plymouth, South West Contract type: Fixed term contract – up to 2 years`. Flexible working, full-time, part-time and job share available, working a minimum of 24 hours a week. Salary: £23,187 - £24,378 Closing date: Monday 19th September 2016 About the role: The Software Engineer will contribute to the implementation of software solutions through the production of high quality code. The Software Engineer is involved in key stages of the development lifecycle throughout the build and deployment of the software by providing support during the life of the service. They will normally carry out these activities on work of a lower complexity/risk profile than Senior Developer colleagues or will have appropriate support and oversight on more complicated work. The Software Engineer brings coding expertise to the team, working with Senior Software Engineers to interpret design and architecture information and to produce efficient maintainable code to resolve the problem. They continuously work to update their knowledge & skills and will take on increasingly complex work as their experience grows. About you: The successful applicant will have a qualification in Information Technology or in a related area. You will show good communication skills, demonstrate a logical analytical approach and show determination to complete tasks. You must demonstrate some experience in the following areas: full lifecycle application development, application design and analysis. You will be able to identify new technologies for implementation, software testing and quality assurance methods. Experience using development methodologies is also required, ideally using RUP, Agile, and you will possess some experience of coding and debugging applications in PL1 or Delphi.
