IT Support Engineer / 2nd Line Engineer – based in Central London Paying £35,000 – £40,000 per annum + fantastic benefits including 2 different pension schemes, Private Medical Insurance, 4 x Salary Life Assurance, Income Protection, and Discretionary Bonus A market leading highly established investment management firm in Central London is looking to appoint an experienced IT Support Engineer to provide first and second line support of the IT infrastructure for clients, customers and colleagues. Key Responsibilities: • Ensure that the IT infrastructure architecture remains consistently available to all users (including colleagues, clients, business partners and suppliers) through: o Management of service or change requests o Management and delivery of scheduled daily, weekly and monthly tasks o Identification, management and resolution of incidents o Identification, management and root cause elimination of problems o Identification, management and implementation of application or process improvements • Understand the business strategy and contribute to the overall goals of the business through infrastructure development, improvement and support • Report progress to the Head of IT Infrastructure & Support, immediately escalating outages, major delays and other serious issues • Work closely with other members of the Infrastructure team, assisting with training and personal development • Maintenance and monitoring of the IT infrastructure • First and second line support of the IT infrastructure • Ensure server and desktop infrastructure standardisation is maintained where appropriate • Liaise, assist and provide support to third party suppliers during their improvement, development and upgrade processes • Assist with migrations, upgrades or new deployments of infrastructure services and applications • Installation of server/networking hardware to datacentre and office locations • Assist with implementing and configuring specific components of the designed disaster recovery plan • Assist with disaster recovery testing of IT infrastructure • Maintaining and updating the Infrastructure team’s documentation library • Troubleshooting and fault reporting of major outages and issues • Assist with ensuring that IT security policy and procedures are enforced and staff are aware of their roles in contributing to this • To provide timely and efficient infrastructure support to all users • Assist with proposed improvements, developments and upgrades to the IT infrastructure • Liaise with and build relationships with third party suppliers and clients • Maintain a technical advantage through continual training and personal development Key Skills: • Ability to logically and methodically problem solve IT incidents and outages • Strong customer service skill to support internal staff • Excellent PC support skills including a broad knowledge of Windows XP/7, Office 2007/2010 and experience of supporting 3rd party desktop applications • Experience of installing and utilising server and desktop hardware • Proven track record of delivering to commitments • Good written and oral communication skills • Proven track record of delivering to commitments • Excellent written and oral communication skills Technical Knowledge: • Knowledge of industry recognised IT and support practices • An understanding of IT infrastructure technologies. Including DNS, DHCP, routing, TCP/IP • A good working knowledge of Windows Server, Exchange 2013, Virtualisation products (Hyper-V and/or virtual server), Active Directory • Knowledge of administering Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012R2 /2014 would be ideal • A basic understanding of investment markets is an advantage • Comprehensive functional knowledge of Business Operations and processes and related Technology Qualifications: • Microsoft Infrastructure specific certifications are a distinct advantage, e.g. MCSE, MCP, MCITP, MCTS
