Position: Infrastructure Engineer: WebOps Location: Plymouth, South West Contract type: Permanent. Flexible working, full-time, part-time and job share available, working a minimum of 24 hours a week. Salary: £23,187 - £24,378 Closing date: Monday 19th September 2016 About the role: The Web Operations Engineer role provides a key link between the IT Development Team and IT Operations. The role holder will be fully engaged with the Service Team and will be involved throughout the development process to advise on and challenge design and development decisions, particularly when they impact on service & integration considerations. You will consider the end to end service across the whole application stack and at all points during the service lifecycle. Using their broad range of technical skills and knowledge they will take a very hands-on approach to support. You will also build appropriate infrastructure tooling and platforms and encourage the standardisation of tools and processes in order to ensure efficiencies when supporting the service About you: The successful candidate will hold a degree level or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or a related area, or have significant experience in an IT field. Knowledge and some experience of a Linux operating system, preferably with automation is essential, as is practical knowledge of working with web technologies (e.g LAMP stack or similar). A basic understanding of IT infrastructure, such as networking, databases, security is also important. You will have Basic software development experience preferably using Java, PHP, Python or Ruby and knowledge of version control systems.
