A Head of Data is required for a senior leadership role accountable for defining and delivering the enterprise data strategy. Responsible for building a trusted, cloud-native data platform (Azure, Fabric, Purview) and embedding data across decision-making, risk, and customer outcomes in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute the organisation's data strategy (governance, quality, value).
• Lead Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Purview platforms (architecture, roadmap, optimisation).
• Establish enterprise data governance (lineage, metadata, controls, compliance).
• Build and lead data engineering and architecture capability (lakehouse, pipelines).
• Drive analytics, BI (Power BI), and AI/ML adoption.
• Lead and develop a high-performing data team; influence senior stakeholders and regulators.

Must-Have Experience

• Head of/Director-level data leadership in financial services or regulated sector.
• Deep expertise in Azure data stack (ADF, Databricks, Synapse, SQL, ADLS, CI/CD).
• Strong experience with Microsoft Purview and data governance frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of FCA/PRA, GDPR, and data risk/operational resilience.

Nice to Have

• Azure OpenAI/AI experience.
• Relevant Azure or data certifications.

Profile

• Strategic but hands-on leader.
• Strong stakeholder management (Exec, regulators).
• Experience building data capabilities in transformation environments.
