We are recruiting for experienced and forward thinking Hardware Technician. This is full time, office based and permanent position and working for very well established company. We are looking for a Hardware Technician (IoT Devices) to join growing support team and play a key role in maintaining and improving customer-facing technical systems. This role offers excellent progression opportunities as the company continues to scale, with the potential to develop into engineering, project management or operations leadership roles.
This is a hands-on technical role supporting the configuration, testing and assembly of vehicle safety and telematics hardware. You will support customer orders and internal projects, ensuring equipment is prepared, tested and deployed reliably for fleet customers. Full training will be provided during the induction period.
Hardware & Technical Work
- Uploading firmware, software and configuration files to devices prior to deployment.
- Configuring system settings including network connectivity, I/O sensors, data transmission protocols and camera inputs.
- Bench testing devices to ensure correct functionality and compliance with operational requirements.
- Preparing, labelling and checking equipment for deployment to field engineers or customers.
- Maintain records for configured devices, firmware versions and customer configuration profiles.
- Testing of faulty electronic devices, diagnosing hardware faults and following RMA procedures.
- Assembling wiring harnesses to customer specifications.
- Creating wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Collaborating with engineering and support teams to ensure device configuration meet customer specifications.
- Assist in improving device setup processes and documentation.
Product & Engineering Support
- Supporting product development through hardware and software testing.
- Internal testing for software bugs and hardware faults.
- Supporting engineering activities on-site and off-site.
- Opportunity to assist with CAD work and hardware development.
Operations & Support
- Liaising with support to resolve support tickets through Freshdesk.
- Updating databases and stock control systems.
- Assisting with planning and scheduling engineering resources.
- Supporting customer installations and asset recording.
Skills and experience needed:
- An individual with warehousing and/or technical hardware experience would be ideal.
- Strong IT literacy and confidence using software systems and databases.
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently while meeting project or order deadlines.
- Experience within vehicle CCTV, telematics, electronics or related vehicle technology sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A technical qualification or relevant hands-on experience.
- A full UK driver's licence would be preferred but not essential (preferably clean).
