We are hiring a Software Engineer to join a modern Agile Scrum team building cloud native geospatial software used in real world, mission critical environments.
This role offers genuine end to end engineering ownership. You will be involved from initial design through development, testing and deployment, working on scalable, resilient cloud based services using current technologies.
The position is Newcastle based with flexible working in place. The team works in the office three days per week, with two days from home.
What you'll be doing
Designing and building high quality, maintainable Java based services
Developing reusable patterns that improve delivery speed and engineering standards
Writing unit and automated tests to support robust, production ready software
Taking part in design and code reviews with a focus on security, scalability and long term maintainability
Documenting solutions clearly and sharing knowledge across the team
Working closely with the Scrum team to meet sprint commitments
Participating fully in sprint planning, stand ups and reviews in a true Agile environment
You'll be expected to operate with a strong sense of integrity and awareness of compliance requirements, as the software supports sensitive and high value use cases.
What we're looking for
Essential experience
Strong Java development experience
Building and deploying cloud based services
Unit testing and automated testing practices
Desirable experience
DevSecOps exposure using tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD or SonarQube
Container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
Quarkus framework
Front end development with Angular
Security clearance
This role requires the ability to obtain or already hold SC clearance. Candidates must be eligible to go through the clearance process.
