We are seeking an experienced Data Architect/Data Modeller to support the delivery of a major PIP New Service programme within DWP. This role will take ownership of the holistic data architecture across domains and microservices, ensuring the integrity, governance, and usability of the platform's data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the holistic data view across all domains and microservices for the PIP New Service.
- Maintain and enhance the Conceptual and Logical Data Models for the platform.
- Work closely with development teams in an advisory capacity, ensuring physical implementations align with and do not break agreed logical model relationships.
- Maintain the Physical Data Schema and detailed Data Dictionary (currently maintained in Excel) and become the SME for this dataset.
- Support operational analytics requirements, collaborating with Data Performance Analysts and the analytics team dealing with MI/BI/ONS responsibilities.
Support DWP central Data Governance initiatives including the introduction of:
- Data Steward and Data Custodian roles
- Formal Data Catalogue tooling
- Improved data governance processes for development teams
- Collaborate with the DWP HAS Data Architect and wider programme stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Strong Data Modelling experience including Conceptual, Logical, and Physical models
- Experience working with modelling tools (currently Lucid, with potential adoption of Erwin)
- Client-facing experience with the ability to advise development teams
- Understanding or experience with MongoDB and JSON-based data implementations
- Ability to inspect and analyse data using SQL or Python within Databricks
- Experience working with Data Catalogue products (Axon experience beneficial)
- Understanding of data governance and stewardship practices
