An Infrastructure Engineer supports and maintains infrastructure solutions and services as directed and according to departmental policy and Home Office strategy.
You will work in a team of Infrastructure Engineers making sure services are delivered and supported as required. You work with and support third parties to provide infrastructure services and with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operations.
Job descriptionThis role is part of the Networks and Infrastructure (N&I) team within the Home Office, which is responsible for delivering and maintaining the organisation's core infrastructure.
The team handles a diverse range of systems, concepts, and technologies. This includes public cloud infrastructure deployment and management and Windows & Linux server technologies. They also manage server and service monitoring, infrastructure as code, immutable infrastructure, automation and serverless compute as well as public cloud provided services across several major public cloud vendors. The team collaborates extensively with other traditional infrastructure teams for connectivity and services as well as application teams to move legacy workloads to the cloud.

Working Pattern
This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 4days / 29hours per week due to business requirements.
Like many organisations we need to maintain our services 24/7, therefore, on occasions there may be a requirement to work out of hours, for which you will be paid an additional allowance.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to other Home Office locations on an ad hoc basis. Any associated costs will be reimbursed in line with Home Office policy.
