About the role
An established specialist within the Fire Protection industry is seeking an experienced Fire Systems Engineer to join their growing team in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Systems Engineer looking for long-term stability, varied work, and strong support within a well-established Mechanical and Electrical fire engineering business.
The Fire Systems Engineer role involves working across commercial and industrial sites, delivering high-quality maintenance, fault finding, repair, and service across a range of fire protection systems. As a Fire Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring systems are compliant, reliable, and meet current industry standards, while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
This Fire Systems Engineer position is well suited to a proactive and professional individual who takes pride in their work, is comfortable working independently, and is happy to travel as required. The successful Fire Systems Engineer will benefit from structured support, paid travel time, and clear opportunities for training and progression.
Key responsibilities
• Maintenance and repair of fire protection equipment in line with current standards and customer requirements
• Responding to demand service calls across fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and associated equipment
• Participating in the on-call rota when required
• Carrying out fault finding and diagnostics on systems
• Completing job reports and paperwork to the required standard
• Maintaining a professional appearance at all times
• Effective control of stock, tools, and vehicle maintenance
Skills and experience required
Essential
• Full UK driving licence
• Electrical NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
• 18th Edition or similar electrical qualification
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional approach
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required
Desirable
• EAL Level 3 in the requirements of fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings BS5839-1
• Experience working to BS5839:1 standards
