Job Description

Salary: £49,000 to £53,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3/4 days a week office-based.

Reports to: Head of Change and Transformation

Direct reports: 3 direct reports

Location: Harlow, Essex. Easily commutable from London Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale Station. We offer a free minibus service to/from Harlow Town Train Station as well as free parking and EV charging on site.

Extra Information: Open to conversation on hybrid, flexible and compressed working arrangements.

About the role:

As a Product Owner, responsible for our Individual Grantmaking Systems which facilitates our primary beneficiary work. You will be responsible for maximising the value of the products resulting from the work of the development team. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and the delivery team, prioritising the product backlog to ensure alignment with customer needs, business goals, and strategic objectives.

What you will be doing:
  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent, and understood.
  • Prioritise backlog items based on business value, customer impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, quality assurance, and business analysts.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, and reviews.
  • Ensure the team understands items in the backlog to the level needed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for product-related queries and decisions.
  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to inform future development.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into user stories.
  • Make trade-off decisions between scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Manage deployments, testing, and communicating these changes to stakeholders.
  • Working within the practice to support other product development when required.
Your experience:

Must haves:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management and backlog tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI principles and customer-centric design.

Nice to haves:

  • Agile certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner - CSPO).
