Senior DevOps Engineer, Outside IR35, 550 day rate - Remote working

Parity is delighted to partner with our client, a public sector organisation, who are looking to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer. Initially 8-week contract with view for extension. This role will require occasional attendance to their regional offices.

As a DevOps Engineer you will support a live, mission-critical platform for a UK public sector organisation. This is a hands-on contract focused on improving reliability, automation and operational maturity within an existing Azure/Kubernetes environment.

You will be part of a small, focused team of technical experts supporting the Product Manager. You will collaborate with other teams including service desks and cloud infrastructure teams to effect privileged changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines (YAML, approvals, deployments)
  • Strengthen monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics
  • Improve AKS operations including upgrades, patching, autoscaling and resource optimisation
  • Enhance infrastructure automation and reduce manual operational tasks
  • Review and document secrets management (Azure Key Vault, SOPS)
  • Improve operational runbooks and incident response processes
  • Review backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Work with service desk teams on privileged access and change management
  • Ensure alignment with government security and infrastructure standards

Essential Skills

  • Strong hands-on Azure DevOps and Azure Kubernetes (AKS) experience
  • Proven CI/CD pipeline design using Azure DevOps YAML
  • Solid Kubernetes operational knowledge
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform preferred)
  • Secrets management experience
  • Understanding of SRE principles
  • Strong documentation and runbook writing skills
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments

Desirable

  • Public sector or government environment experience
  • ServiceNow change workflows
  • PostgreSQL operations
  • Kusto Query Language (KQL)
