Technical Expert, Division Production Software
As a member of the Post Processor team in Hexagon's Production Software division, you will work closely with global engineering, product and customer-facing teams to deliver and maintain post processor applications for our Radan sheet metal CAD/CAM solutions. Your work will directly impact our ability to drive customers' machines and support ongoing sales.
Responsibilities
- Taking technical ownership for the development, enhancement and maintenance of post processor applications that convert Radan output into machine-specific instructions for sheet metal machinery
- Analysing customer and sales requests for new or modified machine support, evaluating feasibility and defining clear technical specifications and setup data
- Implementing and testing post processors and related configuration files, ensuring correct behaviour across a wide range of machine types and control systems
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Product Management, Core Development, Support and regional teams, to prioritise work and align technical solutions with customer needs
- Acting as a technical expert and mentor for other engineers in the team, providing guidance on machine behaviour, post architecture and best practices
- Supporting complex customer cases and escalations in close cooperation with local regions, occasionally on site at customer facilities to diagnose issues directly on the machine
- Contributing to and maintaining technical documentation, templates and standards for post development and machine setup
- Providing technical input for internal and external training on post processors and machine behaviour in English; other languages are a plus
Qualifications
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, an IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Solid hands on software development experience (commercial), ideally 2+ years, with an interest in more engineering focused rather than pure "hardcore" software development roles
- Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC, or similar manufacturing / machine-control software (sheet metal domain experience is a strong plus)
- Good understanding of basic maths and geometry as applied to programming (e.g. simple calculations for areas, dimensions, coordinates)
- Background in working with industrial machines, machine tools or shop floor environments, or strong motivation to learn how such machines operate in detail
- Ability to translate customer and machine requirements into clear, maintainable technical solutions
- Enjoys independent thinking, analytical problem solving and dealing with technically complex, niche topics
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work closely with global customers, sales and internal technical teams
- Interest in mentoring and supporting other engineers, with the potential to grow into a line management role over time
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally (a few times per year) to customer sites, including internationally, when needed for complex machine cases
- Valid right to work the UK (or another applicable European country, if hired there)
