Controls & Instrumentation Engineer - Hybrid (Ilkley + Some UK Travel)
An established process engineering firm is looking for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This is a hybrid role with a 50/50 split between project delivery and customer support, offering variety and technical depth.
The Role Capital Projects
- Design control systems for fans, pumps, valves, dampers, and instrumentation
- Specify and manage subcontractors for panel build, software, and installation
- Ensure electrical compliance with EN60204, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061
- Support commissioning and handover on customer sites
- Produce documentation including FDS, schematics, cable schedules and panel layouts
Customer Support
- On-site testing, calibration and troubleshooting of control systems
- Maintain support contracts and respond to breakdowns and service calls
- Regular UK travel to customer sites, with flexibility on working location
Requirements
- HNC or above in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years in electrical/control design or automation
- Strong understanding of PLCs, VSDs, and safety systems
- Experience producing technical documentation from P&IDs and I/O lists
- Able to manage site visits, testing, and commissioning
- Clean UK driving licence
Nice to Have
- Experience in thermal processes, printing, food, or paper industries
- Familiar with MS Office and electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPlan, etc.)
- Confident working independently and with clients directly
