Network Engineer - Financial Organisation

NETWORK ENGINEER, WIFI, MERAKI, NAC, CISCO ISE.

The AVP - Infrastructure Network Operations Engineer will leverage deep technical expertise and process improvement capabilities to optimize the support and reliability of enterprise network and data centre infrastructure. The role focuses on proactive monitoring, day-to-day operational support, and continuous improvement of network services.

The successful candidate will be highly hands-on, with strong troubleshooting skills across multiple network technologies, and will collaborate closely with senior engineering teams and managed service providers to ensure alignment with organizational standards and best practices.

Extensive experience configuring and troubleshooting the following technologies:

Security & Firewall Management

• Multi-vendor Firewalls (eg, Firepower, ASA, Check Point) using centralized management platforms

• Network segmentation across multi-context and multi-zone environments

• IPS, encryption technologies (IPsec, MACsec), site-to-site VPNs

• Network Access Control using Cisco ISE

• Access security appliances and authentication services

Enterprise Networking

• Routing and switching technologies including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, PBR, SD-WAN

• STP, ACLs, QoS, and advanced Layer 2/Layer 3 switching

Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity

• Hybrid connectivity into AWS environments using Direct Connect, Direct Connect Gateway, Transit Gateway, NAT Gateway, and VPN

• Cloud-native security constructs such as security groups and routing controls

Data Centre Infrastructure

• Spine-and-leaf architectures and VXLAN fabrics (Cisco ACI)

• Technologies including Cisco NX-OS, application delivery controllers, and security appliances

Wireless Networking

• Centralized and cloud-managed WLAN solutions, with strong preference for Meraki

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• SolarWinds for alert monitoring

• Advanced troubleshooting using packet captures, CLI tools, and platforms such as Dynatrace

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Preferred certifications include:

  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE

  • AWS Advanced Networking

  • Fortinet NSE

  • Check Point CCSA/CCSE

Location

UK-based role with a hybrid working model. Travel may be required for on-site support as needed.
