Job Title: Systems EngineerClient: BAE SystemsLocation: Warton (2-3 days onsite pw) Duration: 12 Months, 37hrs per week (with opportunity for extension)Hourly Rate: £81.05 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)Clearance Level: BPSS + SC + UK EYES ONLYAbout the RoleBAE are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Engineering Support System team for In-service Typhoon. You'll work as part of a highly skilled engineering group responsible for integrating, designing, developing, managing, and supporting mission-critical systems that ensure high levels of availability, performance, and security.Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with end users and technical teams to define functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions for new system functions.
  • Document and manage system and subsystem design artefacts.
  • Define and manage interfaces between integrated systems.
  • Oversee design implementation in collaboration with development and database teams.
  • Develop clear and robust test requirements to ensure accurate functional testing.
  • Contribute to Life Cycle Management (LCM) reviews and product safety strategies.
  • Support obsolescence management through technical analysis and estimation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong experience in system and software application design and architecture principles.
  • Proficiency with modelling techniques and tools (UML, Enterprise Architect, XML/XSD).
  • Skilled in requirements analysis and management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS).
  • Working knowledge of software development languages such as C#, .NET, or Java.
  • Experience with configuration and version control tools (e.g. Rational ClearCase, Git).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (Oracle, SQL) - preferred.
  • Understanding of ETL and middleware technologies (Pentaho, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ) - preferred.
