Job Description

Senior Structured Cabling Engineer - Bristol (Commutable)

DCS Recruitment are currently seeking senior structured cabling engineers with experience of both installation and supervision of data, fibre, and containment scopes of work, on behalf of a national data communications client.

Salary

£32,000-35,000 - this is negotiable for the right person DOE

Schedule

Standard working hours are typically 7am-4pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime (OOH and weekend) working may on occasion be required, various uplifts apply.

The Engineer

This role will involve all aspects of physical network infrastructure including copper (CAT5/6/7), fibre (single mode and multi mode), and containment installation, as well as performance testing (fluke/OTDR), therefore the successful engineer will be competent in each of these areas.

The successful engineer will:

Be able to diagnose problems and suggest solutions.

Posess strong communication skills. Compliance with job attendance reports will be critical to this scope of works therefore experience with iauditor or equivalent will be useful.

Be a competent surveyor for install proposal and solution recommendations.

Essential requirements

ECS - Preferably carrying a discipline relating to the network infrastructure industry, or a legacy card e.g. datacomms specialist or CNIT

Right to work in the UK

A solid understanding of BS standards for cabling and containment e.g. BS 7671, BS EN 50173 (generic cabling), and BS EN 5017

IPAF licence

Desirable skills/qualifications

IPAF

City & Guilds / CNCI / CNIDP / CNIT

SSSTS or SMSTS

IOSH
