Job Description

Senior Infrastructure Engineer Greater Manchester £50,000 - £60,000 Hybrid Public Sector

Castlefield are currently supporting a Growing public Sector organisation in their search for a senior infrastructure analyst on a full-time permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain core data centre systems and reporting, ensuring uptime SLAs are met.
  • Carry out complex implementation and point design activities to support internal teams and external clients.
  • Lead project delivery activities, utilising specialist skills for both internal and external implementations.
  • Contribute to the development of technology strategy, roadmaps, and future-state architectures.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Provide direction and guidance on all technical aspects of IT infrastructure, ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
  • Maintain awareness of IT security strategies
  • Produce and maintain build documentation as recognised deliverables.
  • Stay up to date with IT industry developments and identify applicable technologies.
  • Manage external suppliers and internal resources from a technical perspective to deliver complex projects.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • At least one enterprise-level storage certification (HP MASE, NetApp NCIE, etc.).
  • At least one enterprise-level server certification (HP ASE, Cisco UCDS, etc.).
  • VMware Certified Professional - Desktop & Mobility or Data Centre Virtualisation.
  • Networking certification such as Cisco CCNA, HP AIS Networking, Brocade BCNP, or Juniper JNCIS-ENT.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar technical role.
  • In-depth technical knowledge in a specialist field with a broad understanding of all infrastructure technologies.
  • Strong project leadership skills, including managing virtual teams and complex workstreams.
  • Ability to present and advise at all levels, including Director level.

Desirable Skills

  • Microsoft MCSE, MCSA, MCITP.
  • HP AIS/ASE Blade Systems.
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft System Centre (CM, VMM, OM, DPM).
  • Microsoft SQL (2012/2014/2016).
