Cambridge Fire Research Ltd (CFR), based in Pampisford, Cambridgeshire, is a leading independent fire resistance test laboratory. Established in 2005 - with roots going back over 30 years - we specialise in delivering UKAS-accredited fire testing and product development services in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Our wide-ranging facilities support full-scale, medium-scale, and small-scale testing across walls, doors, glazing elements, seals, and more. We work closely with clients to navigate certification and compliance under UKCA marking, third-party approval schemes, and relevant fire safety standards. Integrity, technical excellence, flexibility, and client service are central to everything we do.

The Role: To support the test team to carry out testing and testing related activities to meet with client requirements and in accordance with the CFR Quality System.

Key Responsibilities

Testing and Technical Operations:

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure all test preparations, testing activities, and test reports are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with specifications.
  • Install client products for testing, fit instrumentation, and perform measurements and checks on test samples.
  • Conduct fire resistance tests following relevant standards and approved procedures, ensuring accurate observations, data collection, and documentation throughout the process.
  • Process test data, prepare technical drawings in AutoCAD, and produce comprehensive test reports in line with quality manual and standard requirements.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with our QA system and BS EN ISO 17025.
  • Support laboratory operations in maintaining safety, equipment maintenance, calibration, and accreditation standards.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:

  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, promoting a cooperative and supportive work environment.
  • Maintain a safe and organised working environment, adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures.
