We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Network Engineer to support a major secure infrastructure programme based in Barrow. This role will play a key part in delivering a large-scale Software Defined Access (SDA) network transformation, working across design, configuration, and deployment of next-generation network solutions.
Please note this position is site-based full time, and includes a rotational shift pattern - typically 2 weeks on a standard day shift followed by 2 weeks on an evening shift (anticipated 16:30-23:30).
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to and review High-Level Designs (HLDs).
Produce detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs) from approved HLDs.
Configure and deploy core infrastructure components including:
Data Centre Fabric, Access/Distribution Switches, Routers, WAN, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Authentication Servers, and Wi-Fi Controllers.
Conduct impact assessments for large and complex network environments.
Execute testing plans, analyse results, and document outcomes.
Perform site surveys, including cross-site distribution checks (fibre, power, space) and provide photographic documentation.
Carry out installation, take-on, and testing of new SDA Switches, as well as decommissioning and removal of Legacy kit.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven background in Network Architecture and Design (HLD/LLD).
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Networking (Routing & Switching) and Data Centre Networking.
Expertise in Cisco SDA (Software Defined Access) and ACI.
Familiarity with Palo Alto and Cisco Firewalls.
Experience with Authentication technologies (802.1x, Cisco ISE, Active Directory).
Working knowledge of Load Balancing (Citrix Netscaler).
Experience working in secure or defence environments.
Additional skills in Meraki, Wi-Fi, Remote Access, and Encryption are highly desirable
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will have a valid UK SC Clearance prior to a start.
