About the role:

Reporting directly into the Network Practice Manager, this is an integral role in the support for UK Network data centres and network customers not only working on the day-to-day delivery of service but also participating in mission critical projects, network development and implementations. We put the customer at the heart of the service we provide so you must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

A key aspect of the role will be maintaining the networks across multiple data centres, providing 3rd line support to customers and delivering network related projects to internal and external clients as part of a multi-practice project teams.

You will join a growing team of IT experts in delivering high quality IT services. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously and within a team to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI's and SLA's.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing maintenance and support for Ekco's networks across multiple DCs.
  • Providing support for Ekco's network customers.
  • Performing investigations and taking ownership of operational incidents, problems or changes and preparing solutions to achieve resolution/fulfilment within agreed timescales.
  • Actioning production support requests, as required, in a timely and effective manner, in accordance with agreed service levels.
  • Design and implement client-focused solutions.
  • Production of documents including: Statement of Work (SOW), implementation plan and system documentations (HLD/LLD).
  • Provide technical support and network guidance to other teams within the business.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Liaising with vendors and suppliers for support escalation.
  • Actioning daily checks and monitoring event reviews to ensure system integrity.
  • Participating in rota based, on-call support with the UK Networks team

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • CCNA or equivalent networking qualification
  • 5+ years as a network engineer with hands-on experience.
  • Strong experience in troubleshooting layer 2 and layer 3 protocols, eg OSPF, BGP, MSTP, HSRP/VRRP, IPSec.
  • Strong experience in supporting and configuring Firewalls, specifically Fortigate, Palo Alto and Cisco ASA.
  • Strong experience configuring network Switches across multiple vendors - Cisco (Nexus, Catalyst), Dell, Mellanox, Juniper, Huawei.
  • Monitoring - eg, Nagios/Solarwinds/PRTG.
