Database Developer

AMI is the leading provider of information, market intelligence and events for the global plastics industry. Our business is underpinned by our talented people and our unique databases.

We have a wide range of business applications which use different data models and interfaces, and complex requirements for reporting against those applications. This role works towards integrating these systems into a seamless whole by connecting them to a central source of truth. In addition, the successful applicant will support the development of further applications, both integrated with the company’s website and for internal use, in collaboration with the other members of the development team.

Essential duties & responsibilities

• ​Implement software and design schemas to support the integration of data processing systems.
• Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer to manage the design, development, maintenance and documentation of the Data Warehouse
• Work closely with the Business Intelligence Developer to support production of operational and analytic reports.
• Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer and Developer (Web Applications) to implement applications that use relational database storage.
• Keep solutions up to date with the latest software development techniques and technologies.
• Manage and maintain Azure and on-premise databases.
• ​Develop and maintain a structured approach to data research, analysis, and storage.

​Experience

• Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or equivalent
• Proficient in relational database systems, such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Proficient in database languages, such as T-SQL.
• Proficient in object-oriented programming languages, Python or C#.
• Experience with functional programming languages, Haskell or ML
• Experience of data lake / data warehousing architecture
• Experience of reporting and data visualisation
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
