This role is within NATS Commercial Innovation team providing technical expertise and carrying out systems engineering activities in the development of products and solutions. Actively participating in all aspects of the V model including assurance activities across the systems engineering lifecycle, including early concept development and research.

NATS have adopted agile working to provide greater flexibility and increased choice over working arrangements, this role will work in both our Whiteley office and remotely. There may be some travel involved and successful candidates must be willing to undergo Security Clearance checks.
Other duties include:
Maintain expertise in technical disciplines and awareness of developments that may affect the Commercial organisation
Undertake technical studies or specialised consultancy as required to produce formal reports in support of projects and in response to internal or external requests.
Define and lead Engineering (System and Software) activities on small projects ensuring the right solution is delivered. Participate in large projects as Systems Engineer.
Carry out Engineering tasks across requirements, design, development, installation, verification, validation, safety, cyber security, software assurance and human factors disciplines.
Develop and deliver Work Package Descriptions, F&O Reports, requirements specifications, design documentation, installation documentation, test artefacts, Security Risk Assessments, System Assurance Cases, training plans and material, Work Instructions and technical procedures, interoperability documentation.
Communicate with Project Stakeholders of all levels ensuring all are informed of relevant information.
Respond to requests for specialist support, requiring analysis of situations and action to deliver necessary input in service of project and business goals.
Essential skills and experience:
Professional engineering qualifications to HND level or equivalent and relevant engineering experience with demonstrated ability to carry out engineering and managerial work to this level.
Detailed knowledge of System Engineering and Software Development processes and experience of their application.
Experience in air traffic management or other safety critical/highly regulated environment is desirable.
Proven ability to communicate clearly and precisely with colleagues and stakeholders of all levels.
Able to handle difficult situations, resolve issues and agree positive outcomes.
Demonstrates confidence and healthy approach to challenge and proven problem-solving ability.
Ability and confidence to make sound and effective decisions and motivate is essential, ensuring desired outcomes are clearly communicated.
