Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Robotics Research Manager with excellent leadership and communication skills. A quick thinker with an eye for detail and strong organisational and project management skills. You are a delivery focused individual with an analytical approach to planning and strong commercial awareness, in particular in relation to research collaborations.

To be considered, you will possess a degree in engineering or scientific subject, and solid experience of leadership of complex inter-organisational research programmes in the field of Engineering and Physical Sciences

What will you be responsible for?

As our Robotics Research Manager you will provide operational leadership to the RACE Research Team, who are focused on the low-TRL (Technology Readiness Levels) research activities, research strategy delivery, and Academic Engagement activities of RACE.

Reporting to the Head of Research, you will take responsibility for overall operation and delivery of the research programmes, as well as providing input, advice, and guidance on all aspects of RACE Research Team's strategy and operations. Your main responsibilities will include:

- Acting as overall programme manager for all of RACE's research projects, taking ownership for delivery and ensuring that they are delivered to quality and safety standards, maximising value to stakeholders within time and budgetary constraints. Responsible for research governance.

- Leading the coordination, supervision, monitoring of RACE research finances with RACE Finance Business Partner and programme leads

- Ensuring that intellectual property/ commercially sensitive information is appropriately managed

- Being responsible for direct and indirect line management of RACE researchers and scientists

- Being responsible for structured approach to identifying research funding opportunities and coordinating the delivery of proposals and bids with a particular input to the ability to deliver against stated objectives considering the implications for recruitment/ resourcing, equipment purchase, design and delivery.

- Leading and coordinating recruitment campaigns and selection processes including ownership of process improvement for research team recruitment and selection
