Job Description

As a Solutions Architect, youll share the responsibility for the digital transformation of government and be the design authority on a project team, designing solutions in line with Ofgems Reference Architecture.

Coming from a software development background, you will have experience in writing .NET applications as well as architecting the bigger picture solution.

Youll have a vision for government services and GDS assessments, and are able to communicate this to developers and non-developers alike.

Youll ensure a projects overall technical design meets user needs and acceptance criteria, whilst conforming to time and budget constraints.

Youll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working collaboratively with departments and multidisciplinary teams.

Above all, youll want to make government better, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo.

Responsibilities
  • Application of proven technical architect expertise to design digital transformation initiatives leading to solutions that are innovative, scalable, manageable and secure.
  • Development and maintenance of the digital technology architecture, creating efficiencies through standardisation, simplification, reuse and modularisation;
  • Monitoring and identification of issues and risks related to the technology used in different solutions, across their lifecycle;
  • Contribution to the shaping of Delivery and Schemes digital strategy and delivery plans, development roadmaps and the specification of new digital applications solutions and services;
  • Representing Delivery at governance and programme/project meetings and engaging directly with stakeholders and suppliers at workshops and meetings;
  • Keeping up-to-date and maintaining advanced knowledge of appropriate architectural and applications technologies, software development methodologies and emerging industry trends, making recommendations for innovation and for enhancing digital capabilities to senior managers as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all Ofgem technical architecture follows agreed processes and is delivered effectively.
  • Ensure technical architecture is consistently applied in the digital solutions developed.
  • Ensure that quality assurance methods are effective and adequate and that best practices are followed throughout all architectural processes.
