Who are we looking for?

We have a great opportunity for a Robotics Research Engineer to join our RACE department. The purpose of the Robotics Research Engineer role is primarily to provide electrical and electronics engineering capabilities, working across UKAEA's projects and programmes. The Robotics Research Engineer will have proactive participation in the design, development, building, commissioning and maintenance of electronic assemblies/sub-assemblies and control & instrumentation systems for UKAEA projects and programmes. Another exciting part of the Robotics Research Engineer role is conducting research and development on robotic systems to enable both nuclear fusion and nuclear decommissioning activities.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Conducting research independently and in collaboration with others, contributing to RACE deliverables
  • Producing reports as required for project deliverables
  • Presenting and publishing work
  • Designing and developing hardware and software test platforms
  • Supporting other engineers, scientists, and projects with research expertise
  • Supporting projects to develop or improve/extend research over timescales of weeks to years

International travel to customer's and collaborator's sites may be required.
